A Powtoon alternative
Powtoon alternative: one idea, drawn and explained.
Powtoon is a big studio: templates, a drag-and-drop editor, characters, stock media, avatars and AI tools for presentations and business videos. Frametell does one thing. You hand it a topic or your material, approve a storyboard, and it makes a narrated, hand-drawn explainer.

Hand it what you have
A one-line topic, or a PDF, slides, a Word file, an EPUB, Markdown or images.
- 02
Approve the storyboard
Before anything is drawn, the director shows every page: what it shows and what it says. Cut, reorder or rewrite, then approve.
- 03
It writes, voices and draws
The script is written and voiced, and every page is drawn in the style you pick, from Pop comic and Vector Science to Whiteboard, Watercolor or Clay, timed to the words.

Which one fits you
Frametell fits if you want an explainer, finished
One idea, explained in one to three minutes, with every page drawn for it. You approve the plan and point at what to change; there is no editor to learn.
Powtoon fits if you need a full studio
Its site describes templates, a drag-and-drop editor, animated presentations, a character builder, a stock media library, screen and camera recording, brand controls, and AI tools including doc-to-video, a scriptwriter, text-to-speech and avatars with lip-sync. If you need those, or a team workflow, Powtoon is the better choice.
What Frametell doesn’t do
No templates, no stock footage, no avatars or characters with lip-sync, no realistic video, no uploading your own voice-over. It draws explainers; it doesn’t film.
Not for realistic people, characters or photo-to-video. Frametell draws explainers; it doesn’t film.

Questions
Is there a free Powtoon alternative?
Frametell is free to start: 500 credits when you sign up, about 2–3 one-minute films. After that, plans start at $20 a month. Films made on Free carry a small Frametell mark.
Can AI make an animated explainer video for me?
Yes. Give Frametell a topic or a document and it proposes a storyboard. Once you approve it, it writes the narration, voices it and draws every page, timed to the words.
Does Frametell have templates or characters?
No. Every page is drawn new for your film, and there are no characters, avatars or lip-sync. If your video needs a presenter or talking characters, Powtoon or Vyond is the better fit.
Can it make a presentation?
It makes a video, not slides. You can hand it your slides, though, and get a narrated explainer of what they say.
Can I use the videos commercially?
Yes, on your channel, in a course or for a client. Your uploads are never used to train models.
